When becoming a journalist most people usually have to start at the bottom and work their way up to the place they want to be. A good place to start is online where you can often find people looking for freelance writers. Local newspapers also frequently look for freelance writes to write cover stories and other articles. Although these jobs do not often pay a lot of money they offer writers plenty of experience that will pay off in the long run.
Once you have done a good amount of freelance work you will have enough writing to assemble a portfolio and a proper journalism resume. After you have created your portfolio and resume you are ready to take on bigger writing jobs. Now, all that is left to do is find a working place that you are comfortable and pleased with.
